Site Name: Rainbow Reef
Distance from Club: 3 km
Depth range: 12-40m
Type: Reef / Canyon
Level: Advanced Open Water Diver and above
Starting at the same entrance to the wreck, follow the sand between the two reefs follow the reef on the right.
At 15m there is the first set of cables (net covered on set bed) follow this through a gap in the coral which opens up to a spectacular view down the canyon.
From here choose your depth appropriate to certification level and continue along reef to the north
At 20m you can find the nudibranchs, shrimps, and colourful fish life
Below 25m the topography is enough to satisfy any adventurous diver
At a depth of 35 -40m, the last reef is covered with black coral trees and large elephant ear corals.
In the last canyon you will find large structures across the width of the canyon, these are to protect the 400 KV electricity cables than run the length of the canyon connecting the Jordanian grid to Egypt.
These huge structures are definitely a must see, and the coral is slowly retuning to the damaged area around them making this a great dive site.
